Elect Theo Lamb
Why I'm Running for
I belong to the new generation of leadership Vancity needs to navigate the rapid economic, societal and technological changes ahead. For the past three years I’ve sat on the Vancity Board of Directors and served as Chair of Nominations and Elections and Vice-Chair of Governance. My successful business supports entrepreneurial and social change leaders in BC and beyond. I’m also a board member of the BC Cooperative Association.
I’m proud to be a member of Vancity, the most progressive financial institution in Canada, with its long commitment to economic inclusion, equity, and justice. If re-elected, I will continue to support our credit union and our remarkable staff with a fierce commitment to cooperative values, our member communities and the protection of the precious financial assets we steward on your behalf.
Thank you for participating in this cooperative process. I would be honoured to have your vote.
Supporting BC's Cooperative Economy
Theo is currently in her third year of her first term on the Vancity Board of Directors. She has served as Chair of Nominations and Elections and Vice-Chair of Governance as well as sat on the Audit, Risk and Banking Application Renewal committees. She’s also part of a working group exploring the leadership role Vancity plays in the Credit Union system as it relates to Board diversity and governance.
Theo represents Vancity on the BC Cooperative Association's Board of Directors where she governs to support and grow BC's cooperative economy.
She is a co-founder of the Feeding Growth Progressive Food Series, helping scale progressive food brands and entrepreneurs. She believes that British Columbia can be a globally recognized centre for production and innovation of exceptional, healthy, sustainable and socially responsible retail and packaged goods companies.
A Passionate Community Organizer
Theo is a passionate community organizer who brings her expertise in digital advocacy and community engagement to conference production. She is founder and principal of Cicada Community Consulting, which helps progressive and values-aligned organizations build, activate, support and inspire their member communities both on and offline.
As an Executive Producer at Hollyhock's Leadership Institute, Theo organizes gatherings and conferences bringing together social change and social venture leaders from across the country. She’s also developed online communities and facilitated strategic conversations with organizations including the City of Mission, Mountain Equipment Coop, the BC Mental Health and Addictions Services and the Women's Health and Research Institute.
In her spare time, Theo volunteers each year with the BC Children's Hospital Foundation as an on-air host for its annual Miracle Weekend telethon.
Previously, Theo studied Broadcast Journalism at BCIT. Her first professional job was a news director and TV producer for RJ1200, a Bollywood radio station based in Burnaby, BC. She is a graduate of the University of Victoria having earned her degree in Fine Arts with a focus on theatre.
Mum on the Drive
Theo calls East Vancouver's Commercial Drive home where she lives with her husband Kurt, and their four-month-old son, Sagan, whose current interests include walks along the Drive, trips to Vancity’s Branch 12, and cuddles with his Mum and Dad. They also care for and love their 12-year old rescue terrier, Bean.
Theo has loved every part of her first three-year term on the Vancity board of directors. During her time on the Board, she’s enjoyed meeting with hundreds of members and staff across the province and has been inspired by the impact of Vancity’s wide-ranging social and economic community investments. To Theo, good governance means looking at every decision through the eyes of members to ensure Vancity is having a positive impact on their lives.
If re-elected, Theo will continue working with diverse communities in the social enterprise and not-for-profit sectors, supporting Vancity’s commitment to help communities across the province thrive.
